Shoot 5 Work Diary

Today I went out with the goal of photographing evidence of ageing and growth in nature. I was successful in this aspect as I was able to take a variety of photos that reflected these themes in different ways. Towards the end of my shoot I began to find it difficult to find new ways in which I can show evidence in nature.

I chose this picture because it shows both evidence of growth and ageing. The picture is full of trees that have been growing over time. The light in the image allows the texture of the tree to be seen, showing the cracking bark that has come with age. Contrast can be seen within the image as the pathway that has been formed over years of movement through the forest, cuts through the environment. The trees form patterns throughout the entire image. This allows for depth to be given to the image, as the trees begin to change over different distances.

This image focuses on the very top of the tree line and shows evidence of the height that the trees have grown to. The dark colours of the trees act in contrast to the bright blue sky in a way that creates a visually striking image. The contrast of the trees against the sky almost cause them to appear as silhouettes within the image. This causes the image to be more bold as a result due to all of the bold colours used as a result.

Progression:

In my next shoot I would like to show evidence of ageing and time passing in a way that incorporates both urban and natural areas. I can achieve this by focusing on abandoned buildings.
