I chose this picture because it shows a clear example of evidence of people who had previously been smoking in the environment. This image also uses the focus on the camera to show depth on a small scale. Contrasts in colour are a key theme within this image. The cigarettes stand out from the metal bin, while the black scorch marks are highlighted around the bin. This implies that people have previously used the bin to extinguish their cigarettes while leaving the remains on the bin. It is also clear that the square on top of then was used as an ash tray.
I chose this image because it shows a half empty wine glass that has ben placed there by a person who had been previously drinking it. The image focuses on the wine glass and shows a clear representation of contrast of the bright yellow liquid against the dark backdrop. The image is framed on a stair case and shows the pattern within the railings on the stairs. Formal elements such as lines, pattern and depth can be seen within the image. The bars of the stairs form lines which create patterns. The way that these patterns change over distances create depth within the image.
Progression:
I was able to achieve my aims for improving the areas in which my work suffered from in the last shoot. To improve my work I will look to focus on keeping this consistent style of work while trying to increase the quantity of photos that I take. I would also like to set up some of my own examples of evidence for my shoots. I could benefit from this by having a running theme throughout my images while having a higher quantity. For a theme I will try experimenting with other examples of evidence within my next shoot such as graffiti and vandalism. I would also like to incorporate the formal elements in my next shoot. For my next shoot I would like to photograph graffiti in order to show vandalism.
