This image shows an example of evidence with graffiti. I decided to take advantage of the focus in order to exaggerate the detail of the photo to show the texture of the railing while blurring out the background. The white background acts in contrast with the black writing in order to create a striking image. Another formal element that is apparent within this image is texture. The light being shone across the railing causes the texture of the bar to be revealed. The texture of the paint appears to be bumpy as a result.
This image shows another example of evidence with graffiti. This image features two main formal elements, pattern, lines and contrast. The lines of the metal door appear to form together in a pattern formation. The black, matte writing of the spray paint clashes with the metallic surface of the door. This creates a contrast which causes the message to stand out against the door. The texture of the surface can also be seen. The rust is present on the door which implies that the door has been there for a while and has been rained on in the past.
Progression:
For my next shoot I would like to continue to explore the uses of formal elements within my images. I would like to explore more elements such as colour, tone and depth. I would like to photograph other examples of evidence. For my next shoot I would like to photograph tracks in order to show evidence of people and cars being there.
